About

This ongoing research examines the material, atmospheric, geological and ecological conditions on site — upon a glacier and in its forefield. The field work retraces the steps of historical expeditions carried out, that set early milestones and knowledge in the field of glaciology. Through archival work in-situ and in institutions, these histories are re-examined to understand the power relations and embedded ideas within in the knowledge collected, as well as the deep time knowledge and history embedded in the site itself. Elements of the site are studied, reconstructed, and traced through time.
