Le Massif de La Vedette. Carte dressée à 1:40,000, par A. O'Carroll, d'après ses relevés et études sur le panorama de La Vedette à l'aide de la géométrie descriptive, exposée dans Histoire d'un dessinateur (1879) par E. Viollet-le-Duc et sa carte du Mont Blanc de 1876.

The landscape of the panorama in the Grande Salle is reconstructed in three-dimensions through perspectival projection, taking the viewer’s eye (within the room) as the origin point. Due to the panorama’s fixed condition and the short range between viewer and canvas, the form of the projected landscape distorts significantly as the observer’s position moves within the room. Thus, infinite landscapes are possible as a unique topography exists relative to every point on the room.
