About

From the exhibition curators:

“With painstaking precision, Aisling O’Carroll reconstructs Viollet-le-Duc’s studio and living room as unfolded plan and elevation, bringing out the details of the alpine landscape that covered the interior walls of the room. However, she also observes the landscape from a different and far more speculative perspective. Like Viollet-le-Duc, she takes the mountains out of their context to create a new imaginary scenery that refers back to the interior space. In this way O’Carroll recreates Viollet-le-Duc’s studio in her own studio in a project that grapples with a lost cultural heritage.”
